A great time management book by real people

This book is a quick and engaging read. Connie and Geoff tell their own stories about conquering their time and their schedules. Their stories are inspiring and easy to relate to. Their advice is useful and shared in a friendly and unassuming voice. The time-management strategies the authors share are rather simple but Connie and Geoff's own successes prove that they work. The only thing the book lacks are examples/templates of to-do lists, priority-setting sheets and other helpful materials which would have illustrated the recommended time-management methods even better.

Useful Advice for Anyone with Time Management Problems

Don't be misled by the title: this short book is not necessarily only for people who are running a moneymaking business. It provides useful advice for anyone with time management problems.

An example of the author's style and approach is her suggestion to think about one's priorities: "Take a look at where you spend most of your money. Take a look at where you spend most of your time. If you discover that you aren't focused on what you say are your priorities, think about how you can change that ..."

Doing "What will be the most fun or "What needs being done right now" doesn't make our lives better. "When we remember that we are in business to make money, ... Which [task] will make me the most money" leads to much better use of our time.

As a college teacher, I can see that this short book teaches lessons that are easy to understand and that most of my students urgently need to absorb. (staying online until three in the morning and checking Facebook every few minutes while in class will most certainly not bring them closer to their goal of learning job skills and life skills).

Although much of this book SHOULD be common sense, it deserves to be read even by people who are not in the business world.

The Reverend Father Ernesto Cardenal, now octogenarian, ever priest and poet, receives the heavy grace of beaming brightly his wonderful eyes in every crucial place for our Catholic Church, from Gethsemane to Cuernavaca to Solentiname to Managua.

A novice some fifty years ago under Father Thomas Merton in Gethsemane, the traditional and true Trappist monastery in Kentucky, Father Cardenal prayed, following the original Rule of Saint Benedict, each Psalm each week in the Vulgate Latin translation of the great Saint Jerome, and often several Psalms much more frequently, seven times a day.

Father Cardenal composed an excellent new introduction to this new reprinting (in the Coleccion Estructuras y Procesos: Serie Religion published by Editorial Trotta in 1998) of his translations directly from the lyrical and faithful Vulgate Latin into his native Nicaraguan, following very closely the meter and meaning of the Vulgate.

I myself following a similar rhythm of chant covering all of the Psalms some thirty years ago, began a long lost notebook of translations form the irrresistable Vulgate into American English. I wish I had that notebook yet. The Psalm six was especially if personally evocative, as I recall.

Here we have a trained and talented and true poet, inspired by the poet Father Merton, writing in his own idiom freely after Gethsemane, a translation of here 26 psalms well selected from the corpus of 150. He follows faithfully the sound and fury of the Vulgate, signifying everything, and making them true for our world of a half century ago, a world of socio-economic injustice, recovering from World War II and Auschwitz and Hiroshima and entering a time of purposeful though insane nuclear terror. Father Ernesto crystallizes and offers up in prayerful sacrifice all of our contemporary anxieties. He makes the Psalms ours to pray. In fact, when he later returned to Gethsemane on a visit to Father Merton and shared these Psalms, Father Thomas told him these are the Psalms as we ought to pray them.

Some might call such hermeneutics materialist when it is all the opposite. Father Cardenal brings our material into the spiritual dimension of all salvation history of yearning, with Job, with the Prophets, with the People of God. In fact any separation of Creation and salvation into a dualist spiritual/materialist dichotomy has long been declared heresy by our Church. The Mystical Body of Christ is REAL and here and now, and suffering, and praying and seeking the Pilgrim path to peace with justice on the road to the Kingdom which is here among us. This truth has been repeated in our Church from the earlist rejection of the Gnostic heresies through now in the latest Papal encyclical, The Sacrament of Charity: Sacramentum Caritatis particularly in sections 88 through 92.

Kindly permit me therefore some brief and poor translations of Father Cardenal's wonderful work, knowing it can do him no justice, while I urge you to examine the original (inclduing the Vulgate as it was, not as it has been renewed!)

The first and only exhaustive history of the county heretofore vritten was published by H. Beers Co., in 1880, from material compiled and arranged largely by Judge John Wharry of Greenville and by one Prof. W. H. Mcintosh. This volume contained about 250 octavo pages of closely printed matter relating to the history of the county, besides about 200 pages of general introductory material and about 300 pages of biographical sketches. On account of its priority and the mass of historical data which it contains, this book must form the basis of any authentic history hereafter written. Perhaps the most apparent fault in this excellent first history is the lack of an adequate index and the irregular arrangement of topics a condition which the writer has endeavored to overcome in a measure in this work. A second work entitled A Pictorial Outline History of Darke County, was published by Geo. W. Wolfe in 1890. This work was largely biographical but contained some excellent introductory matter and a few good topical sketches. An excellent Biographical History was published in 1900 by the Lewis Publishing Company of Chicago, which contained many well-written biographical sketches, but not much purely historical data. To all of these works the compiler of the present volume freely acknowledges his indebtedness for original material, realizing that without them the task of writing an authentic pioneer history would be practically impossible. Further acknowledgment is made to x-ttorney Geo. A. Katzenberger, who compiled and wrote the excellent chapters on Miltia Organizations. and Bench and Bar; and toG

If you liked the Hawk's Way series, you will like this story. The time traveling heroine, seeking revenge against the murdering bank robber, is shocked to find herself rescued into the future. You also get to meet Honey Farrell, the heroine of (Honet And The Hired Hand) and Adam Philips of The Rancher And The Runaway Bride. It is a re-releace, that starts the whole of the Hawks' Way series.

It could have been better.

I thought this books was ok. Not the best I've ever read but pretty good. The character's needed to be a little less hormonal and a little more....how should I say it...human I guess. More down to earth. Dallas seems to be living in the past but he's really in the future. That was a big dislike. Angela starts off as an innocent but suddenly she's kissing a total stranger she's never seen?? I gave it a three.

Very good intro to starting a food concession business. I just started my business and finished our first season in the fall. This book and DVD helped immensely and now that I'm closed for the season, I'm going back to review before we open up in the spring. Lots of good recipes for not only BBQ but other popular festival and fair foods! Well worth the price if you are considering getting into this business.

Good Read Hampered By Poor Editing And Few Photos

I've had a fascination with shipwrecks since my grandpa showed me an encyclopedia painting of the Lusitania sinking when I was about 3 years old. I'm also a #1 fan of Clive Cussler and his NUMA adventures.

This book gives a little story about each ship, then goes into the results of what is there now, or was when the author visited each site. There are some fascinating bits and pieces here. His attitude about access to the ships didn't bother me as much as the poor editing and lack of substantial photos. I'd get this buildup to each vessel, but the carrot at the end of the stick was nothing but text. Maybe his publishing budget didn't allow for more photos, but I really think it would've sold better if he added a little more pizzazz to it.

Still, for anyone interested in shipwrecks, I highly recommend this one, despite the flaws.

I like the topic and written information, but it would have been more interesting if the book had more pictures of the original object and then follow up pictures of the search for the object and in various stages. The author could have followed more of the process Clive Cussler used in his Sea Hunter series. Over-all, I still like the subject and the written historical information.

Unvailing History

First of all, I love adventure stories. This is more of historical adventure looking for lost ships and their past history. Some questions may never be answered but, their story of how they became wrecks that are still around today. Facts or still unknown nautical history? Get into it, go underwater and visit without leaving your chair. Good reading.

Hard to Navigate

This Kindle edition is splendid to look at and the text is sound, but, even with hyperlinks, finding your way from the Table of Contents to the selection you actually want to read has been made unnecessarily, preposterously inconvenient. Thus, to get to "The Faerie Queene," Spenser's greatest and most-read work, you not only have to wade through many works of far less value and interest; you have to inch along through every single minor division of those many works--for instance, every single sonnet of the "Amoretti" gets its own line in the Table of Contents, and when you finally get to "The Faerie Queene," every single canto of every book gets its own line. It is not a simple matter of going to a one-page list of Spenser's works, clicking on "The Faerie Queene" to get a list of the poem's books, then clicking on Book III to get a list of the book's cantos, then clicking on canto xii; on the contrary, you have to go through page after page after page after page of the Table of Contents even to get to "The Faerie Queene," then go through page after page after page after page of canto listings until you come to Book III canto xii. There are no submenus. I think most readers would prefer the "Delphi Complete Works of Edmund Spenser," which is cheaper, incomparably easier to get around in, and as a bonus includes Spenser's prose treatise on Ireland (ideologically appalling though that is). As for the claim in Amazon's listing that this edition is annotated, the only annotations I find are E.K.'s original 1579 glosses to "The Shepheardes Calendar."

Finally, his complete works

I bought this after buying another edition by the same publisher, and like the other one, this one is worth paying for. The publisher has assembled all of the poems, which you can't even find all together in free editions, and all the line breaks etc are there. (I don't know how Spenser wrote so much just using a quill or whatever, but there you go.)

Great poet, but can be a struggle to read

Spenser is pre-Shakespeare, if memory serves. He's wonderful, but the language takes some getting used to. He wrote a LOT. I mean really, A LOT. If you buy this you'll be reading it awhile. It's worth it for the ending to The Fairy Queen.
