Good read

This is the third book by William Bayer that I have read, and the best one so far. The plot is fast and unpredictable. The writting style grabs the reader. He has also written under the name David Hunt.

Geoffrey Barnett, an ex-photojournalist, has the inability to photograph faces due to a traumatic event in his life. He now makes a living by selling photographic prints and at night he likes to prowl the streets of New York to find great shots. One evening he meets a young beautiful woman named Kim who helps him overcome his photographer's "block" and who also ultimately becomes his lover. His mundane life suddenly takes an adventurous turn when he becomes involved with her. Several of her friends are murdered; she skips town; and after tracking her to Key West he learns of her blackmailing scheme. The cops are suspicious of him and the blackmailee harasses him. Overall, the book was an easy read but I found Geoffrey to be a bit naive considering his worldliness.

Unforgettable

When I read Blind Side over 20 years ago in hardcover, there was a money back guarantee that said that I could return the book if I didn't like it. Have to say that I didn't return the book.
It's extremely rare that I'll read a book a second time but when I saw that this was available on Kindle for $2.99, I thought why not. I didn't remember the book and thought it would be a great read again.
Of course, all the memories came back. Still, crafting a story based on a relationship between 2 people only to have so many obstacles twists and turns that leave you hanging with an ending that will be a surprise. Of course, it's not the surprise ending you would see in a Nicholas Sparks novel.
I've read most of the William Bayer novels, including the ones that he wrote as David Hunt. The stories were good but not as good as this one. He is at his best here.
If there is one book that is worth saying that this is a five star review book that you won't be able to put down, this is the one. No cell phones. No internet. Just a photographer who is trying to get his life together and gets involved in an unforgettable relationship.
It's quite a story. Don't miss it.

Fast and Useful Guide to a Better Body through Food!

Muscle Building Foods is a great introduction to building a better body through nutrition. With clear cut guidelines and a simple approach to making better dietary choices this is an excellent place for the beginner to look at developing a more comprehensive understanding of how food can affect your health and your appearance.

And on that, this book does cover more than simply looking good - it's about feeling good too and improving your health from the inside out. With tips and advice on improving your sex life by boosting natural sex hormones through food to reducing cholesterol and many other health concerns this is a great read that will get you up to speed fast, and without the complex mumbo jumbo medical terms.

Loved these foods for muscle building

This health & fitness book, Muscle Building Foods covers so many factors of
eating right, and not just for losing belly fat.

First, it's not a "diet" book so don't think you'll be going on some type of
crash starvation diet for weight loss.

The foods mentioned are all natural and most are readily available at your
local market.

The chapters that intrigued me were the ones about boosting my energy level
and the section outlining the value (or lack of it) of supplements and diet
pills. This is nutritional information I can really use!

So, if you are interested in learning more about muscle building foods for
nutrition and health this book is a read!

Wow, I feel better with just reading about how to build muscle! The author gives an amazing variety of foods to eat and those not to eat to help build your muscles also how important your diet is. And when is the best time to eat protein and CHOCOLATE!

Wonderful ideas are provided to lose that belly a lot of us carry around, me included. A wonderfully comprehensive book about maintaining healthy muscles for every age group. A must read!

INTO THE LABYRINTH by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

Into the Labyrinth is a 1993 fantasy novel by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, the sixth in the seven-volume Death Gate Cycle. Here, Xar, on Abarrach to learn necromancy, sends Haplo's ex-lover to kill him.

There are some serious and damaging problems here, the likes of which we haven't before seen in this series. First, Xar does not live up to his billing. Rather than the wise patriarch of a proud people, this is an insecure, short-tempered leader of a cult of personality with dumb-as-rocks followers (this effect is compounded by the tiresome Marit), and sometimes, frankly, Xar's kind of an idiot. This makes it hard to take him seriously as a credible threat to any faction, and it detracts from his character arc of growing obsession.

Far too much time is spent with the Pryan crowd. It seems like the authors felt obligated to get Pryan back into the story, even though there was really no pressing reason to. I, for one, didn't need to see these folks ever again: they squabble like little kids every chance they get. This, coupled with the preponderance of recap provided, may lead the reader to skim a significant number of pages.

There are issues with the Labyrinth, too. For one, it makes no sense for Haplo to think that his child might be in a city near the very beginning of the Labyrinth. There are also significant inconsistencies with the use of magic, particularly concerning the fact that the Patryns, who can magically multiply their weapons and food stores, always seem to be scraping by.

There are some lesser problems. We could have used more from Samah, and less sentimentality from the authors, including but certainly not limited to all the hand-holding and Kumbaya-singing on Arianus well after the resolution of those storylines in The Hand of Chaos (the reader is given to believe this is included because the activation of the Kicksey-winsey is significant, but nothing of consequence is done with this plot thread).

It's not all doom and gloom, though. There's a lot of action here, and it's handled well. Alfred receives some of the development we've been waiting for since Serpent Mage. The authors also do a surprisingly good job of explaining and incorporating Zifnab, the walking deus ex machina, into the world. With the exception of all the bickering on Pryan, the authors keep the pages turning.

It may set things up nicely for the conclusion, but Into the Labyrinth itself is a weak entry in the series.
