About the Author
Mark Zuehlke is the author of six critically acclaimed works on the Canadian Army in World War II. He has a reputation for bringing to life the story of young Canadians at war. Among his notable books are Holding Juno: Canada s Heroic Defence of the D-Day Beaches, June 712, 1944; Juno Beach, Canada s D-Day Victory, June 6, 1944; and his trilogy of the Italian theatre: The Gothic Line: Canada s Month of Hell in World War II Italy; Ortona: Canada s Epic World War II Battle; and The Liri Valley: Canadas World War II Breakthrough to Rome. Here is an important contribution to the history of World War 2.
It tells of how, for the seond time in the 20th century, this enigmatic and sparsely populated country shed so much blood fighting to save Eruope from tyranny.

Canada's Battle

After D-Day, the Germans fought a fierce series of battles tn destroy the bridgehead. The Canadian army was in the thick of these battles and, at a high loss of dead and wounded, won. This book describes this struggle from the veiwpoint of those fighting in these battles. I recommend this bokk for showing the hell allied troops suffered in order to win this war.
