Lotus Rose writes delightfully weird tales about young characters in strange situations. At times dark, silly, or bawdy, his writing owes much to such influences as Alice in Wonderland and Roald Dahl, Piers Anthony and Douglas Adams, and explores themes like disillusionment, and the corruption of innocence. If his books were movies, they'd likely be directed by Tim Burton. He often writes in a style that is a more edgy, "grown-up" version of children's literature interspersed with his poetry and songs.

Malice in Wonderland was a bummer

The description of Malice in Wonderland looked like it was a book that would turn our memories of Alice in Wonderland on their head and be quite funny. The book was not funny. The (very simplified) premise (I don't want to spoil it if you decide to read it) is Alice hates Wonderland, she is given the opportunity to become heartless, and she kills nearly all of the other characters. I understand that this is the first in a series and the completed idea may be very clever, but as a stand alone book I believe it missed it's mark. I do not like writing bad reviews because tastes vary, but I really didn't like this book. I finished it, but I left disappointed.

This book was poorly written. I cringed throughout the whole story at the amatueristic attempt at writing. I had to keep reading throughout just to keep cringing. 5 out of 5 would not read again.

I'm all for the dark side of fairy tales, I like the spin on them. But this was too much. Very dark and morbid. Not much of a story line either. Not going to finish the series.
